Surveys, Secrets and Silliness

There’s always something new happening in the world of online marketing. Here are just a few stories we came across this morning:

First, there has been some discussion lately that the availability of Canadian-specific Search Marketing information is very limited. While our neighbours to the south may enjoy a wealth of survey information and intelligence specific to that market, Canadian marketers have languished in the dark ages of sparse information on Canadian online market trends.

So we’re happy to say that Canadian tech communication company Profectio has launched the first Secrets to Effective Canadian Search Engine Marketing Survey. This survey seeks to find out what companies are marketing online, and what the trends are for the future. I for one am very interested in seeing the results of the survey. You can take the survey here.

Second, Enquiro has released a new whitepaper on “Search Engine Results: 2010″. It looks at the effects of universal search and trends in search marketing. The whitepaper is a free download, and you can get it here.

In other news, Google is being sued once again, this time for being called “Google”. Apparently, when the plaintiff’s social security number is scrambled and upside down you can read the word “Google”. Apparently according to his handwritten filing, “A person regardless of race or religion that wishes to cause acts of terrorism would look for social security numbers that are made readily available on the public use databases”. He is asking for $5 Billion in compensation.
